Deep link: what it means on Telegram

By Mario Antonini·

A deep link on Telegram is a bot link with a parameter on the end, like https://t.me/yourbot?start=promo01. Pressing the link passes that value to the bot, which receives the message /start promo01 and can react to it.

According to Telegram’s documentation, the parameter accepts A-Z, a-z, 0-9, _ and -, and can be up to 64 characters long.

In Flow4You, every flow has its own deep link (t.me/yourbot?start=ref_…), and whoever clicks enters that flow. So your bio, an ad and a partner can each open a different conversation in the same bot.

Without the parameter, the link only opens the chat and the person sends a plain /start. So test the link after pasting it: if ?start=… gets lost along the way, they won’t enter the flow you intended.

A deep link picks the conversation. It isn’t ad tracking, which is a separate mechanism. The guide to the Telegram bot deep link covers how to use it and where that line sits.
